A Cute Halloween

The air is crisp, the side walks are covered with a mosaic of colorful leaves and the smell of pumpkin spice lingers in the air. Fall is one of my favorite seasons and every year I intend to make it better than the last.

Cute Decorations
While strolling down the aisles of my local party store, I would normally reach for paper streamers, styrofoam and string lights; however, this Halloween, I’m opting for more eco-friendly and dare I say spooky decorations. My home is filled with pumpkins, corn husks, leaves, branches, flowers, and hay. I found most of my decorations on my daily walks outdoors or at the farmers market. It’s such a affordable and organic way to keep my home looking and smelling festive without toxic chemicals.

Cute Lighting
To make my lighting extra cute, I have illuminated my home with the glow of carved pumpkins filled with soy wax candles instead of paraffin wax. Candles made from paraffin wax release toxic chemicals into the air. I also use LED lights because they require less energy and I only keep them on when I am home to enjoy them.

Cute Party
This year our at our Halloween party we will be using eco-friendly disposable plates made of naturally fallen palm leaves to provide a stylish and sustainable natural alternative to foam and plastic products. Along with the wooden utensils, they are fully COMPOSTABLE, RECYCLABLE & BIODEGRADABLE.  Now that’s cute! Shop these plates here

Cute Trick or Treating
Ever wish you could still go door to door Trick or Treating? Here's your chance. Global Exchange is helping educate adults about Fair Trade cocoa by allowing you to hand out Fair Trade chocolates when you go Trick or Treating . The chocolates are attached to information cards that shed light on child labor and low wages present in the cocoa industry. You can help make a difference while reliving your favorite childhood pastime.

Cute Costume
Instead of wasting money buying a plastic, polyvinyl, chemical containing costume, we went to local thrift and vintage shops to put together our costumes. We saved money, and had fun getting creative. Corey and I went as Elliot and Gertie from E.T. We event built the bike basket from old bike handles and used a basket we had lying around. I highly recommend shopping your closet before running out to buy a costume.
